In vitro hydroxyapatite formation of a tetracalcium phosphate and anhydrous dicalcium phosphate based dentine desensitiser: TRIS buffer vs artificial saliva

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Calcium phosphates (CPs) form hydroxyapatite (HA) in physiological solutions. These are commonly used to treat dentine hypersensitivity (DH) as they mimic the mineral composition of natural tooth. Aim: The present study aims characterise apatite formation ability a commercially available calcium phosphate TeethmateTM (TM) physiological-like media. Materials and Methods: In this study, 4mm (D) x 6mm (L) cylindrical samples TM were produced immersed tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (TRIS) buffer (pH: 7.3) artificial saliva (AS) 6.5) for up 24 hours. This was followed by characterisation after immersion using 31P magic angle - nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MAS-NMR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) treated with material scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: MAS-NMR XRD analyses revealed that TRIS solution formed within approximately 6 hours immersion. change observed at around 12 soaked AS.  pH media increased increasing time. SEM analysis showed transitional phase structures exhibiting plate-like morphology. Conclusion: shows converts HA vitro rapidly provides an effective option treatment hypersensitivity.

Properties of Calcium Phosphate Cements With Different Tetracalcium Phosphate and Dicalcium Phosphate Anhydrous Molar Ratios

Calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) were prepared using mixtures of tetracalcium phosphate (TTCP) and dicalcium phosphate anhydrous (DCPA), with TTCP/DCPA molar ratios of 1/1, 1/2, or 1/3, with the powder and water as the liquid. Diametral tensile strength (DTS), porosity, and phase composition (powder x-ray diffraction) were determined after the set specimens have been immersed in a physiological...

Effects of a Dicalcium and Tetracalcium Phosphate-Based Desensitizer on In Vitro Dentin Permeability

The present study evaluated the effectiveness of a dicalcium and tetracalcium phosphate-based desensitizer in reducing dentin permeability in vitro. Dentin fluid flow was measured before and after treatment of dentin with patent dentinal tubules using 1 or 3 applications of the dicalcium and tetracalcium phosphate containing agent TeethmateTM (TM) and comparing the results with two sodium fluor...

CALCIUM PHOSPHATE CEMENT: STUDY OF (BETA-TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE AND CALCIUM CARBONATE SYSTEM

Calcium phosphate cements (CPCs), using B-tricalcium phosphate (ß-TCP, Ca3 (P04)2), dicalcium phosphate (DCP, CaHP04), calcium carbonate (Ca CO3), and hydroxylapatite (HAp, Ca10(P04)6(OH)2) as powder cement and disodium hydrogen phosphate (Na2HP04) solution as liquid component were prepared. After mixing the powder and liquid constituents, injectable and self-setting calcium phosphate cements (...

In vitro ion adsorption and cytocompatibility of dicalcium phosphate ceramics

BACKGROUND In vitro cell testing of degradable bioceramics such as brushite or monetite is often challenging due to the ion release into or adsorption from the culture medium. These ionic changes are then mostly responsible for cell proliferation and activity, which prohibits the investigation of effects originating from surface topography or further material modifications. METHODS Here, we a...

Effect of powder grinding on hydroxyapatite formation in a polymeric calcium phosphate cement prepared from tetracalcium phosphate and poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic acid).

The primary aim of this study was to determine if cements based on poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic acid) (PMVE-Ma) and tetracalcium phosphate resulted in hydroxyapatite formation. In addition, the mechanical strength of this type of polymeric calcium phosphate cement was evaluated. Cements were prepared by mixing, in a powder/liquid mass ratio of 3.0, an aqueous solution of PMVE-Ma (mass fractio...
